VBlog #2: ELL Teacher Interview
For this Blog Post I had the privilege to interview an amazing teacher who has been actively teacher ELL students for 23 years. Mrs. Terry was born in Cape Cod, Massachusetts but has lived in Houston for over 30 years. She has taught a variety of grade levels and subjects throughout HoustonISD and KatyISD. I enjoyed chatting with her about her experiences throughout her years in education, specifically involving her experiences with ELL students. During my interview I was able to learn about ways in which a classroom can be successful for all students included those who are ELL. When asked about lesson planning I loved hearing the strategies she utilizes to differentiate her lessons. As explained by Wright, visuals can be so important for students who are learning a new language. Visuals can be used to scaffold instruction and can be even used as a form of assessment.
